Top Five Memorable Eli Manning Moments Against the Washingto

Top Five Memorable Eli Manning Moments Against the Washingto

Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III has taken the Dennis Pitta Jersey National Football League by storm, but the New York Giants have nothing to worry about this Sunday, as long as Eli Manning is under center for Big Blue. Since becoming New York's quarterback in 2004, Manning is 11-5 against division rival Washington, with a couple of come-from-behind wins to his credit. As the Giants and Redskins get set to renew their long-standing rivalry at FedEx Field on Monday Night Football (Dec. 3), here's a look back at five memorable Manning moments against Washington.
The Season Opener (Sept. 4, 2008) -- Big Blue began their Super Bowl XLII title defense with a 16-7 win over the Redskins at Giants Stadium. Manning capped off a game-opening 84-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run (the third of his career), but he didn't throw a touchdown. It's the only time the Giants have defeated the Redskins without Manning tossing Ray Rice White Jersey a touchdown (their overall record in such games is 8-16). Incidentally, Manning has four career rushing touchdowns to date.
Manning to Manningham (Jan. 2, 2011) -- It's not the most memorable Manning-to-Manningham connection (see Super Bowl XLVI), but it was pretty special. Manning fired a 92-yard touchdown strike to Mario Manningham to give the Giants a 17-7 lead in the third quarter. It's the second-longest TD throw of Manning's career behind only last season's 99-yard scoring pass to Victor Cruz. New York held on for a 17-14 road win in the season finale, but missed out on the playoffs despite finishing 10-6.
Special Delivery (Sept. 23, 2007) -- The Giants scored 21 unanswered points in the second half and made a goal line stand in the final minute of the game to defeat the Redskins at FedEx Field, 24-17. Manning led three touchdown drives after intermission, Ray Rice Black Jersey the last of which was capped off by a Plaxico Burress 33-yard catch-and-run touchdown with 5:32 left in the game. Manning would lead four more fourth-quarter comebacks in 2007, as the Giants marched to their third Super Bowl championship. Incidentally, Burress caught 33 career TDs from Manning, the most of any wide receiver.
Skinned! (December 21, 2009) -- In his best career performances against Washington, Manning completed 19 of 26 passes for 268 yards and threw three touchdowns without an interception, as the Giants blew out the Redskins, 45-12, at FedEx Field. Manning, who threw scoring passes to Steve Smith, Derek Hagan and Manningham, finished the game with a crazy QB rating of 144.4. Incredibly, he has never thrown more than one touchdown in any other game against the Redskins in his career.
